Employee Analytics in Teams and Slack

Analytics Platforms

Are They Communications or Analytics Platforms?

Analytics are an important tool for measuring employee performance and productivity. Both Microsoft Teams and Slack offer analytics functionality that can be used to track how employees are using the platform and identify areas where they may be struggling or excelling.

In Microsoft Teams, analytics can be accessed through the Microsoft Teams admin center. Here, administrators can view usage reports that show how many users are active on the platform, how many messages are being sent, and which channels are the most popular. Additionally, there are reports that show which users are the most active, who is sending the most messages, and who is using the platform the most. This information can be used to identify employees who may be struggling to use the platform or who may be excelling in their use of it.

Another useful feature in Microsoft Teams is the ability to track user adoption. This can be done by tracking how many users have been added to the platform, how many have completed the training, and how many have been active in the last 30 days. This information can be used to identify employees who may need additional training or who may be struggling to use the platform.

In Slack, analytics can be accessed through the Slack app directory. Here, administrators can view usage reports that show how many messages are being sent, which channels are the most popular, and which users are the most active. Additionally, there are reports that show which users are sending the most messages, who is using the platform the most, and who is most active in specific channels. This information can be used to identify employees who may be struggling to use the platform or who may be excelling in their use of it.

Another useful feature in Slack is the ability to track user adoption. This can be done by tracking how many users have been added to the platform, how many have completed the training, and how many have been active in the last 30 days. This information can be used to identify employees who may need additional training or who may be struggling to use the platform.

Third Party Integrations Add Even More Analytics!

In addition to these analytics, both Microsoft Teams and Slack offer integrations with other tools that can be used to track employee performance and productivity. For example, both platforms offer integration with time tracking tools like Toggl and RescueTime, which can be used to track how much time employees are spending on specific tasks and projects. Additionally, both platforms offer integration with project management tools like Asana and Trello, which can be used to track how much progress is being made on specific tasks and projects.

Passive Surveying is the Next Big Trend

One of the most exciting new ways for companies to use Microsoft Teams and Slack for analytics is to add in a Passive Listening solution like TruPulse. TruPulse is a Natural Language Processing (NLP) based analytics platform that draws employee insights from threads of communications to help people analytics teams, HR teams and IT teams better understand the employee experience. Before TruPulse analyzes communications, it de-identifies all threads so that the privacy of individuals is maintained. TruPulse then sends these threads through various AI analyzers that are trained by machine learning techniques to generate insights. TruPulse can analyze employee morale, create lists of the most important topics on employees minds, and also measure the cultural health of a company. People analytics and HR teams can see trendlines of activity for these behaviors to understand if things are getting better, staying the same or getting worse. And the best part is that all of these insights are generated with de-identified data so the privacy of individual employees is always protected.

Communications Platforms are Analytics Platforms

Analytics are an important tool for measuring employee performance and productivity. Both Microsoft Teams and Slack offer a variety of analytics that can be used to track how employees are using the platform and identify areas where they may be struggling or excelling. Both platforms offer integrations with other tools that can be used to track employee performance and productivity, as well as to passively survey employees to better understand the employee experience. By using these analytics and integrations, managers and administrators can gain a better understanding of how their employees are performing and feeling and take steps to improve their productivity and make a better workplace.
